The Flesch Reading Ease formula scores text from 0 (very difficult) to 100 (very easy). Scores of 60–70 are considered plain English suitable for most adults. Higher scores mean simpler text.
What is Flesch-Kincaid Grade Level?
The Flesch-Kincaid Grade Level maps your writing to a US school grade. A score of 8 means an 8th grader could understand it. Widely used by US government agencies to test document accessibility.
How is reading time calculated?
Reading time uses a 200 words-per-minute rate — the average adult silent reading speed. Speaking time uses 130 wpm, approximating a natural conversational pace for speeches and presentations.
Does it work offline?
Yes. Once the page has loaded, all calculations run locally in your browser. You can disconnect from the internet and it will keep working.
